The scenario
The magician enters the stage...
"I would like to give this book to someone chosen completely at random. May I ask you all to stand...
You will each choose a number between 1 and 6. If you chose the number 1, raise one finger. For the number 2, two fingers, 3: three fingers, and so on. For 6, close your hand. Place your bets…”The spectators each choose a number and raise their hands.
“The game is over, nothing is going well anymore...”
The magician takes a die and a cup and shakes it. Then he looks at the number on the die and shows it.
“The number 5! Those who chose the number 5: well done! You can stand. The others can sit down…
For those still standing, the game continues. Choose a number between 1 and 6 again…”
The magician puts the die back under the cup and shakes it.
“The number 3! Those who chose the number 3: well done! You can stand…”
The magician repeats this game until only two or three people remain standing.
“Young man, here in front, I could use an innocent hand... Hold the cup and shake it yourself…”
The young man shakes the cup as he pleases.
“Lift the cup… The number 4!”
Only one person remains standing.“Well done, sir! You're the only one who guessed the number on the die three times in a row. What's your name?”
- "Mark"
Marc, you won this book! Open the book to the first page. I've written a dedication…”“This book is for someone who can guess the result of a die roll three times in a row: a man with little hair, a beard, a t-shirt, and jeans. His name is Marc. Enjoy your reading, Marc!”
(The winner is chosen at random. They are not an accomplice.)
